Moderne's tighter repeat breaks the surface up more frequently than a large-scale print, so wear and soil disappear into the pattern faster. It's the more forgiving choice in a room where the seats never move and the same path gets walked every night.

Where the directional repeat matters

Because the repeat is half as wide as it is long, Moderne has a grain. Run it with the length of the room and it visually stretches the space toward the screen — useful in a room that's wider than it is deep.

It also means seam placement matters more than with a square repeat. Send us your dimensions before you order and we'll lay out the seams so they fall where the seating hides them.

Why theater carpet, not household carpet

Residential carpet is built for foot traffic in a hallway. Theater carpet is built for a room where people eat, drink and spill in the dark, then leave the same chairs parked in the same spots for years.

Fire rating — read this if you're finishing a basement

Class 1 fire rated and CRI Green Label Plus certified for low VOC emissions.

If your theater is in a finished basement or anywhere subject to inspection, this matters — many residential carpets are not Class 1. Building codes vary by jurisdiction and are applied inconsistently, so confirm with your local fire marshal or building inspector before installing. We can supply the manufacturer's test documentation on request.

Shipping

Broadloom ships on a 13'6" wide roll and moves as freight, not parcel. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address and the quantity you order.

Before you order

Order the whole room at once. Carpet is dyed in batches, and a roll cut from a later production run will not match exactly. Ordering the full quantity in one go is the only way to guarantee a consistent floor.

Add for pattern match and waste. A patterned carpet has to line up across a seam, so the usable yardage is less than the raw square footage of your room. Tell us your dimensions and we'll do the takeoff properly rather than have you guess.
